izaya's name comes from the biblical prophet isaiah. 臨 is not read as "iza" at all, actually. had it not gone through, his parents would have named him rinya.

introduction

izaya orihara is a character from the light novel series durarara!!. working as an info broker, he lives in shinjuku but visits ikebukuro frequently for business and to observe people. this website is loosely based off of the wiki page for him, but it's my version, so it's cooler.

appearance

izaya is extremely beautiful. so much so that the actual author of the series has to mention this many times within the story. multiple characters have pointed out his beauty, and it is a big charm point to him. his outfits consist of mostly black or otherwise dark colors. honestly he kind of looks like somebody who never grew out of their emo phase and i really like that.

he has a lot of fur-trimmed coats. in the anime, these assorted coats are replaced by a single boring coat without any details. this is because the anime sucks. the most important detail is the fact that he has at least one coat in the novel that has dog ears on the hood. this is very cute.

personality

generally, izaya is a very playful person. he has nicknames for people around him and often uses them to get a rise out of them. in short, he is a ragebaiter. a professional one, in fact.

despite this rather lighthearted outward appearance, izaya is actually much more closed off in reality. he has no close friends or anyone to confide to, instead choosing to live a rather lonely life.

background

growing up, izaya isolated himself just as he does as an adult. he was never particularly liked or disliked by his classmates. in fact, he was popular with the girls for his good looks. despite this, he chose to stay in the library by himself instead of interacting with any other students. he is said to have been the honor student type in elementary school.

why i like izaya enough to make a whole website for him

izaya is cute! izaya is beautiful. izaya is sexy. izaya is smart. izaya is stupid and annoying. i am thoroughly charmed by all of these aspects of him and i love him very much. i believe izaya is the blueprint for my taste in both fictional characters and real people. in some way, everything that i do or am into can lead back to izaya.

he is afraid of dogs.
he's good at singing and making ascii art.
his reason for continuing to wear his middle school uniform throughout high school was because he didn't want to wear the same outfit as shizuo.
he gets his hair cut at various places, and also fixes it himself sometimes.
he can't cook much aside from hotpot for one or french toast.
